Happy Diwali!

Updated: Dec 22, 2023

The world is a messed up place, but some stray acts of kindness show that there may be a chance that the world isn't doomed after all.

Everytime I scroll through Youtube Shorts and see a video of a person taking care of a rat stuck in a mousetrap, or see a person help a homeless man it makes me happy; makes me feel like there is more humanity in humans than we think.

It's sad that there is still inequality; some live in mansions while others live on the streets, some barely make a living while others make heaps of money which they can't find a way to use. Women in many parts of the world still don't feel safe travelling alone and it's depressing to think about that in a world where we keep talking about equality in jobs and education. We should be in a position where we don't have to talk about equality. It should be considered normal, not as an achievement.

We need to spread more kindness and Diwali is the best time for it. Diwali is a symbol of good beating evil, enlightenment beating ignorance. In India, one of the beliefs is that Diwali marks the occasion of the God Ram returning to Ayodhya after his 14 years of exile along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman after defeating the demon king Raavan. TThe people of Ayodhya welcomed them with lamps and flowers, creating a very vibrant scene. This is the sort of environment we need to create around us, spreading hope, wisdom and light.

Let's light up hearts, one lamp at a time, and make the world a better, happier place!

Here is to another Diwali filled with love, laughter and lights; Happy Diwali!
